5 Steps For A Successful Morning
Hi, and welcome back to the Good Stuff!
So if you knew me in college… No you didn’t. 😏 Because in college I’d stay up late, watch Netflix from my laptop, and eat Kraft Mac n cheese. In college, I’d sleep in until noon every day just to stumble in sleepy-eyed to my English class that I had seriously no excuse for being late to because, well… It was in the same building as my dorm room. The organized, timely, health-conscious, mindful girl you’re getting to know now was at one point only a figment of my imagination — a girl I dreamed of being one day. She was a series of decisions that I made when I finally decided that I wanted to make the most of my life. And at some point the decision to wake up early and have a morning routine needed to be made so that I could carve out time solely dedicated to me— and doing so has single-handedly changed my life. So I decided that I’m going to share with you my morning routine checklist so that you can be set up for success each and every day.
These are my not-so-obvious secrets that I guarantee will change the trajectory of your life in a positive way — all before 8 am!
Step 1
Stay tech-free in the bedroom, and allow yourself to wake up without screen time. Before you get out of bed, lightly stretch, focus on long deep breaths and think of what you’re grateful for. Make your bed, then take the time to jot down what might’ve come up for you during your gratitude meditation before brushing your teeth and skincare routine.
Step 2
Exercising first thing in the morning immediately boosts your energy, even if it’s just a light walk. I personally like to go to a pilates or hot yoga class and have found that it’s beneficial not only for my physical health but that it also increases my self-esteem and confidence.
Step 3
Nourish your body for the day ahead. Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and then make your favorite breakfast, whether that be a proper meal or something on the go — like a smoothie! Don’t forget your supplements too.
Step 4
Get ready for the day ahead. Turn your shower cold for the last 3 minutes. Write your to-do list, check your schedule, and set any alarms or reminders you might need for the day ahead. This is also a great time to check emails and return any calls you might have.
Step 5
Read an exciting book, or if you’re on the go, you can listen to an audiobook or podcast while you’re on your way to work or wherever you need to be! This is one of my favorite parts of my morning routine and is an easy way to grow my mind and learn something new every day.
If you don’t already have a morning routine, you might be thinking… “well, I don’t know if I have time for all this.” But trust me, you do.
It just might mean that you have to set your alarm a little earlier tomorrow and if I can do it, I promise you can too. So whatcha waiting for? Set your alarm. Book that boxing class. Add a few breakfast items to your grocery list. Cue that podcast. And get ready to step into the shoes of a happier, healthier YOU!
You got this,
